Section outline

    • This webinar series is designed to familiarise participants with EUMETSAT’s data access services, with a focus on interacting with the Data Store and Data Tailor APIs through the Python library EUMDAC (EUMETSAT Data Access Client). The series relies on presentations and demonstrations, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A discussions.

Session 1 tackles the transition from accessing EUMETSAT’s Data Store and Data Tailor via the web interface to using the Command Line Interface. This session provides practical guidance on accessing and customising satellite data with EUMDAC, demonstrating how command-line access supports systematic downloading, efficient tailoring of large data volumes, and seamless integration into complex workflows. Key concepts and terminologies such as GUI (Graphical User Interface), API (Application Programming Interface), and CLI (Command Line Interface) will be explained to equip participants with the essential knowledge for a full understanding of the course topics.

Session 2 explores the new features available in EUMDAC v3.1.0. Through concrete examples, this session shows how to make the most of the latest functionalities and optimise your data access and customization workflows.

      Expected Outcomes:

      • Understand the advantages of using the EUMETSAT Data Access Client (EUMDAC) over the web interface.

      • Install, configure, and run EUMDAC via the Command Line Interface.

      • Access and download data systematically from the EUMETSAT Data Store using EUMDAC.

      • Customize data with the Data Tailor through command-line requests.

      • Automate workflows for handling larger data volumes and integrating them into more complex processing chains.

      • Identify and apply the new features introduced in EUMDAC v3.1.0, learning through concrete examples how these updates enhance data access, customisation, and usability.
