Dear CALMeters,
A new week has began and we are arriving now in the mid-term of our CALMet Online 2014. It is nice to see 150+ CALMeters are around and joining the event, participate actively in the sessions activities. We witnessed that enthusiasm grows nicely in sharing knowledges and information. Thank to all of you for the participation.
Talking about the Week-4, Bernie had captured the enthusiasm of participants in playing with Padlet remained from the activities in Week-3. Even more, she brought Prezi as to make the session became more exciting for all of us. And not only talked about GOES-R but Bernie brought the topic of POES-R on to the discussion. Some experiences has shared on how to bring the new satellite data into weather offices and asisst people start using new products that could help them in their work. Some learning activities has inspired us on how to teach about new satellite tools and generate learner’s curiousity. And this week, some activities continues in the session, focused on aspects of data access and visualization to create a product example in preparation for the new satellitte. We will soon find the experience is posted by the host in CALMet Commons.
Also from this Week-5, other USA colleagues ready to have their session on stage. Bruce Muller and Marianne Weingroff from COMET will share the experiences in using of conceptual models to enhance our understanding of the physical parameters and processes that happened in the fields of atmospheric science and hydrology. They will host discussion on the use of conceptual models in teaching, and we will develop a list of conceptual model resources, as well as to identify conceptual model resources that need to be developed to support our collective training needs.
