Dear CALMeter Fellows,
We would like to thank for the active participation of all CALMeters during the past 5 weeks. We still welcome new participants, the number of participants just reached 165!
Yes - we passed a half-way of the event, but you still have time to jump into the ongoing discussion. A week has already passed since Bruce Muller invited us to share our thoughts in the forum. So far, we are talking about the idea of Conceptual Model, participants share examples of a Conceptual Model that changed their understanding and how they use that Conceptual Model in their teaching. The next two weeks, Bruce and Marianne will bring us to discuss about the reason why we are talking about the Conceptual Model, how it will help us in develop the supportive learning environment for forecasters and where to go when we need more references about it. Big thanks to Bruce and Marianne for the initiatives so we will have a clear and nice insight on how the Conceptual Model will be useful for us, not only when we are teaching, but also when we are learning.
CALMeters, this is a special week of CALMet Online 2014, when the event meets its uniqueness. For the next two weeks, we will have session in English and Spanish. You may see in the forum that Graciela Rolon, our Argentina fellow from Servicio Meteorológico Nacional – Argentina, invited all of us to join the Meteorological Training Experiences in Argentina. Together with Marines Campos and Hernan Ciminari, she will host the Session of Experience Zonda: An example of A Conceptual Model Applied on A Simulator - Experiencia Zonda: Ejemplo de Modelos Conceptuales Aplicando Simuladores. The timing of this session overlapping with Bruce and Marianne session is perfect for you to get to know about Conceptual model thinking been put into practice and applied in a simulator!
On Wednesday, 12 November 2014, another bilingual session will begin. Moira Doyle, Elizabeth Castañeda, Leonor Bonan, Lorena Gonzalez and Ana Pittaro, from Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires, ready to share their Experience in Distance Learning in Meteorology - Experiencia en Educación a Distancia en Meteorología. For you who are now conducting the similar program in your institution, this is the right session to participate.
Now, with this nice crowd around, are you feeling like having a Festive? Yes, we are too. Meet the session’s hosts in Facilitator Book and let’s step our November Argentina Tango, los esperamos!
