Hola, 170+ CALMEters,
hope this message finds you in good health. In some regions we experience the inter-seasonal/transition period, northern hemispheric people are welcoming winter while southern hemispheric colleagues are preparing for summer. The equatorial people are facing the transition period from dry season to rainy season.
Moving to Week-7, we have only two more weeks to go. Les deseamos mucho ánimo para las dos últimas semanas que quedan de CALMet Online.
We hope you have found the Argentinian bilingual sessions interesting. Don't forget Bruce and Marianne will still continue hosting the closing third week of “Teaching with Conceptual Model” session. They will collect examples of CM from every corner of the world. Remember you can use these ideas in your training activities to help the forecasters in their learning. We identified some interesting characteristics in competent forecaster's ability to use mental models for job tasks.
Big thanks also to Hernan, Marines and Graciela to demonstrate with a real example what was discussed with Bruce and Marianne on Week-5. Applying Conceptual Model thinking in a Simulator is one great example of application of active learning in training.
Our appreciation goes also to the team of educators from University of Buenos Aires. They continue to host the distance learning session as a solution for an initial university meteorology course. This new initiative, full of collaboration among inter-discipline components, will be beneficial as lessons learnt for those colleagues, who are developing similar courses within their institutions.
We give these ongoing three topics a bit more time and will begin with the final session on Successful Learning Strategies by BoM only on Wednesday.
Stay well,
Roro and Vesa
