Dear Participants,
This week marks the start of CALMet Online 2012. We hope you will join the opening sessions, and that you will take some time to look over the schedule of future events as well.
Our initial sessions include:
EUMETSAT Conference Training Session (Live Broadcasts), starting on Thursday, 6 September. Over the course of two days, 18 different presentations will be offered, and we suspect that most will be of interest to you. The sessions will also be archived for later use.
Also beginning this week is Training with Simulators: What is the state of the art? This session, led by Mark Higgins (EUMETSAT) and Heleen ter Pelkwijk (KNMI), will be designed to gather what is already known about the use of simulations from research and our own experience. Over the next eight weeks, using a model of “little and often” participation, activities will help participants use this knowledge to improve teaching practice.
Also, to help us all get to know one another better, please take a few moment to update your Participant Profile with a photo and information about yourself and your work (https://classroom.eumetsat.int/user/index.php?contextid=6870).
A new Forums page has been set up at https://classroom.eumetsat.int/mod/forum/index.php?id=174. If you plan to participate in multiple sessions, this page will help you manage your access and see which forums you are participating in. Of course, we hope that you will participate in all of the forums, and that you will subscribe to receive emails of all posts so that you can be notified when other participants or the facilitators make additions.
