The eternal language problem

The eternal language problem

I just wanted to say that during yesterday's quizzes I got two cases wrong because there were one or two words I did not know or hear correctly. In the Eumetrain project, during the last year we have had an English review for all the new Eumetrain material, and this has clearly shown me that I am not so good at English as I have believed (and perhaps those of you who know me have also supposed...?). Well, in this case more time could have helped. And thank you, mr. Ross-Lazarov, for speaking very clearly and not too fast!

Thank you for your kind words and thoughtful feedback!

I am glad that you found the session interesting, useful and fun.  It is delightful to know that the design worked well.
The language barrier is always present in events that have international audiences.  I am sorry that some of the questions were unclear and might have prevented you from answering them correctly.  The  purpose of the questions, however, was to engage the participants and generate discussion (and perhaps some learning).  I hope that you found those aspects productive.  Should I offer this presentation to an international audience in the future, I will give more time for answering the questions as you suggested.
All the questions in the presentation were tested with an international audience spanning the globe and did not reveal any issues at the time.  This only reinforces the point that we need to write our questions ahead of time and test them with actual users.  Even with that, some minor defects might still exist.
Have a wonderful day!
