Survey - preliminary results

Hello everyone,

A big thank you to those who already submitted answers to our short survey. We had a look at the preliminary results of the survey today and are happy to say that the sharing spirit of this community is clear! We have received 24 responses to the survey so far and would like to share the preliminary results with you. We would attach the results to this forum post, but we grew a bit tired of using “attachments”, so we decided to stick notes on Maja’s fridge this time. Do you stick notes on the door of your fridge too?

Sticking notes on Maja’s fridge
You can see the notes on the fridge’s door (and stick your notes there too) by using the link in the Moodle course page (entitled “Go to Maja’s fridge”) or you can use the URL below

From December 3, 2012

We can stick notes on the fridge via “Lino”, a free and easy tool to use.

  • There is no need to login, so using the URL given here will work as a “shortcut” if you don’t want to log in the Moodle course page.
  • To stick your notes on the door, just choose one of the coloured notes from the top right panel, write on it and press “post”.
  • You can drag your notes to the place you want to stick it to, edit what you have written and even peel it off if you don’t like it.

We will only see the top of the door in Lino, but there is plenty of space for us to use, as the fridge is huge!

The survey’s journey continues
The survey results we have placed on the door of the fridge are “preliminary”, because we will keep collecting responses to this survey for the next two weeks. The note on the fridge will be updated as we receive more responses, so please submit your answers if not yet done, and share the link of the survey with colleagues too. We have been already collecting answers from people who are not registered in this CALMet session, but are willing to contribute to a better understanding of the needs of this community.

We have only a fairly good idea of where the responses are coming from (which depends on how participants identify their institutions), but it is good enough to have a general idea of how far this survey is travelling. If you are curious about it, have a look at the map on the fridge.

Use Lino or Forum
We will be happy to read any comments and reactions to these preliminary results in Lino or in this Forum, if you find it easier to write here. Are you generally surprised by the answers collected so far or do they represent what you expected?
