The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki will organize in cooperation with EUMETSAT the Autumn School 2017 on the “Use of Satellite Information in Nowcasting”, which will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece, in the week 11 - 15 September 2017.
The main objective of the training workshop is to present and explain to the participants the new developments in satellite meteorology focusing on the use of processes, principles and practices, tools and products for nowcasting and short-range forecasting based on meteorological satellite data and products.. Lectures cover a wide range of topics such as convective events monitoring, convective cloud features, conceptual models, precipitation and nowcasting products and applications of MSG imagery products.
Target audience: operational forecasters, experts and researchers from south-eastern Europe and North African countries, preferably young and motivates staff members of the Meteorological Services with knowledge or experience in satellite imagery interpretation.
