  • CLARA - A new Climate Data Record on Earth Radiation Budget

Webinar with Christine Traeger-Chatterjee (EUMETSAT), Karl-Göran Karlsson (SMHI),
Tom Akkermans (RMI Belgium)Jörg Trentmann (DWD), Aku Riihelä (FMI), Steffen Kothe (DWD) and Antoni Vecoli (EUMETSAT)
    20 September 2023, 12:00 UTC

This online short course presents CLARA-A3, the latest edition a global climate data record on clouds, surface albedo and surface radiation, generated by the Satellite Application Facility on Climate Monitoring (CM SAF).

During the approximately two-hour course, participants get the chance to learn from CM SAF experts about all important features and highlights of the data record. In a hands-on session, users start working with the data to get insights into data handling and data formats.

    Target Audience

Users of the previous editions of the CLARA data record and all new users, who are interested in high quality long-term global data of clouds and surface radiation. This includes for instance, climate services and research institutes with focus on climate.

    Expected outcomes

After the event, we want participants to be able to remember the most important features of the CLARA-A3 data record and its improvements compared to its predecessor. Attendees should know the data format and how to handle the data. One measure of a successful short course would be a measurable increase in the download numbers of CLARA data.
