This comprehensive two-day online course will focus on the application of Case 2 Regional Coast Colour (C2RCC) algorithms to Copernicus Sentinel-3 OLCI (Ocean and Land Colour Instrument) marine products, provided by EUMETSAT.
It will take place on October 24th and 25th 2024, and is designed to cater for users and researchers interested in enhancing their understanding of water quality through ocean colour remote sensing over complex waters. This course presents an opportunity to improve your knowledge of OLCI ocean colour products, both current and planned, and enhance your practical skills and understanding of the advantages and limitations of the C2RCC algorithm on coastal and other complex waters. The agenda for the online session is as follows:
Day 1 (2 hours) 12-14h UTC
- Introduction to OLCI and demonstrations on accessing and navigating OLCI data.
- Demo sessions using SNAP for Level 1 and Level 2 data analysis, with a focus on the results of the atmospheric correction (AC) and the inverse problem of in-water retrieval by analysing the water quality products and flags.
Day 2 (2 hours) 12-14h UTC
- In-depth presentations on the architecture and development of the C2RCC algorithm.
- Advanced demos on C2RCC processing using SNAP, including batch processing and model comparison using Jupyter Notebooks.
- Custom vs operational processing and OLCI product developments
- Q&A and feedback
The course will be led by experts from both EUMETSAT and Brockmann Consult GmbH, who bring extensive experience in ocean colour remote sensing and algorithm development.
