First of all I want to express my hapiness due to the fact that the operational radiation products have been updated with the latest data up to 22/9.
This allowed me to create 2 maps showing the total solar radiation for the period of 01-06 until 31-8 for both 2011 and 2012.
The results are attached below.

Something which is easily noticeable is that in summer 2012 we have less incoming solar radiation in the north than of 2011, and more than 2011 in the south. It would be interesting to see what NAO and AO was during these 2 different summers.
