Hello Calmeters!
Greetings from the southern and northern part of the world.
Thank you for registering for the CALMet Online 2014, which will be held from 6 October – 30 November 2014. We are happy to have all of you, our wonderful participants, and more than happy to learn that you are coming from all over the globe. With the warmest feeling as colorful as our rainbow, on behalf of all facilitators, we want to welcome you to this event.
We have seven sessions planned, including one synchronous session, which are designed for your active involvement in discussions and session activities. As the event is conducted asynchronously, we hope that you will have no stress in fitting the event in your schedules and daily routines.
You are free to join all sessions, or just to jump into the selected sessions and participate in the ongoing discussion, sharing your experience or related information with our colleagues in this community.
As you see, in the event main page, you will find a list of sessions with its each description. The general forum will be used for general announcement and to remind you when one session is starting. You will receive a notification as to update you with the latest information or comment posting.
For easier participation and make you comfortable with the event site, we provide a tool that may be useful to navigate you in the event. By clicking at the title, the session will open with its resources and activities. Clicking at the rainbow will return you to the event overview.
Some facilitators already have their faces shown in the site, and more will follow. You can meet them in “Your Facilitators” book, to know more about them, what they are doing, the team and a about their session in a brief.
Each session will have its own activities. It will be conducted as scheduled. When one session is over to the next session, the forum will remain open to provide a space for continuous discussion. You will be initially subscribed to each session discussion, but you can choose to unsubscribe if you wish not to receive email copies of a particular session.
To complete our event with unique experiences, that involves language as one aspect of our cultural diversity, some session will be bilingual.
In the end of this event, you will gain a certificate as a souvenir for your valuable contribution, and as to remember the best moments we have in this event.
If you are new with Moodle and need some technical assistance in joining the sessions, please feel free to share your difficulties to us. We are more than happy to offer you a help.
We hope you will find the event to be an interesting and challenging experience, and that you will learn many things that you will find useful to your job or your activities as learning - training practitioner or meteorologist as well.
Now, Sarah Kimani is ready to host you in her briefing session.
Welcome and we wish you enjoy this CALMet Online 2014.
Best wishes,
