CALMet Online: CALMet Online 2016 - session 2

Dear CALMeters,

The second session of CALMet Online 2016 is soon coming!

The session of GAMIFICATION will be led by Brad Snyder (EC/Meteorological Service of Canada) and Tsvetomir Ross-Lazarov ( COMET, USA). In this session, Brad and Tsvet will discuss the effectiveness of using games as a learning tool and how it offers a way to improve learner retention.

The session will consist of pre-session game and one-hour live session on Wednesday 22 June 2016 at 15 UTC. Tsvet and Brad will soon tell you more in detail how to join. The specific forum is available for you to ask questions and discuss more about the topic with Brad and Tsvet and other colleagues.

Greetings everyone,

As Roro and Vesa mentioned, our session will have a game prior to the session and a couple of games during the 1 hour time slot on Wednesday 22 starting at 15 UTC.

The pre-session game will consist of three challenges whose answers you will post on the session’s forum. You will receive points for your posts. Each post will receive 1 point, insightful posts will receive 3 points. You will have access to a score board to see how well you are doing. The board will be updated once per day.

The person with the highest number of points will receive chocolate made in Boulder, Colorado. Visitors from around the world like the chocolate very much. A recent visitor from Switzerland said: “Mmm…. This is pretty good!” and ate the entire chocolate bar.

If we have a tie, the pre-session game score combined with the risk management game score will produce the winner!
