  • Day 2 will be dedicated to atmospheric correction. What approaches do we have for each sensor? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? How does each perform for you region of interest?

    Learning objectives:

By the end of day 2 you should:

    • Understand the theoretical basic of, and need for, atmospheric correction
    • Have gained practical experience in comparing different atmospheric correction approaches
    • Be familiar with the flags that are developed during various level-2 processors
    • Have assessed how the atmospheric correction method and flags affect the level-2 data in your ROI
    • Part 1: Top of the Atmosphere Radiance to water Remote Sensing Reflectance

    • PDF presentation from day 2 part 1 of the MSOC course. The video will follow.

    • Part 2: Level 1 to level-2 processing: An intercomparison

    • PDF presentation from day 2 part 2 of the MSOC course. The video will follow.

    • Part 3: Beyond the atmosphere: what else do we need to correct for/flag

    • PDF presentation from day 2 part 3 of the MSOC course. The video will follow.

    • Part 4: Group data work #2: assessing atmospheric correction and flags

There is no presentation for this part. Please see the msoc repository for the demonstrated Jupyter notebooks for this day.
